Join us for a meet and greet with our bagpipers and drummers—where the kilts are breezy, the pipes are squeaky, and the conversation might just end with you learning how to clear a room with one note.

This year’s Bluewater Fling is bigger and better than ever, celebrating 100 years of community service. The Mackay and District Pipe Band’s 10th annual Fling promises to be a fantastic day of family entertainment. 100 pipers and drummers from around Queensland will march across the Forgan Bridge including special guests the Queensland Police Pipes and Drums and Murphy’s Pigs.

🏴 The Grand Finale: Bluewater Quay
Where the Pioneer River meets 100 years of history.
As the sun begins to dip over the stunning Pioneer River, the centenary celebrations dial up a notch. Grab your picnic blanket or favorite camp chair and settle in on the banks for an evening of riverside magic and world class entertainment.
🍴 Feast at the Fling
The Brews: Savour the taste of the Highlands right here in Queensland. Red Dog Brewery will be serving up Scottish-inspired craft brews and hearty riverfront eats.
The Food Village: Follow your nose to our curated Food Stalls! From local favorites to festival classics, there’s a feast waiting for every appetite.
🎸 The Riverfront Soundtrack
The energy stays high on the River Stage right through until dusk. Enjoy the stirring echoes of the Queensland Police Pipe Band and the foot-stomping rhythms of Murphy’s Pigs as they carry us through the afternoon and into the big Fling Afterparty.
🎆 The Big Finish: Fireworks & Remembrance
The night reaches its peak at 8:30 PM with a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the Pioneer River.
As the last sparks fade, join us for a truly moving moment of reflection: a Mass Pipe Band will unite to play Auld Lang Syne. It’s the ultimate tribute to 100 years of history and a celebration of the friendships made along the way.
